Jeff Doshna Can Spell Commitment

Today, Erica Edwards and and her fellow Republican incumbents sent out a mailer to the citizens of Flemington which contained a stunning mishmash of fabrications, inaccuracies and outright lies. Erica Edwards is at it again, and, as usual, it doesn’t add up.

To start, you would think that Erica would know her own record. On the front of her mailer, Erica mentions that she was appointed to the Borough Council in 2007. But on the back of the mailer, she claimed she started in 2006! Which is it? Since Erica is a charter member of the Environmental Commission, she should recall that Jeff started serving on that commission at exactly the same time as she did. For Jeff, she calls that work a “Municipal Volunteer Position”, but for her, it’s “Other Municipal Government Experience”! It simply doesn’t add up.

Erica touted the years she has been on the Finance Committee. Why didn’t she mention that in her first term as chair, all of our taxes went up for the first time in years? Finally, Erica takes credit for $2.4 million in grants that she “secured” for Flemington. If by “secured”, she means “took the credit for the grants found by Van Cleef Engineering”, then she’s correct.

Erica’s misremembering of her own record must be why she resorted to outright lies when it came to Jeff’s experiences in Flemington. Jeff was an alternate to the Union Hotel Redevelopment Committee. He stayed abreast of developments via e-mail should he need to step in if one of the committee members was absent. Then Erica accuses Jeff of not attending 50% of Planning Board meetings, but offers no evidence to back her claims.

As for Jeff’s “Hands-On Local Economic Development Experience”, she omits how Jeff volunteered with the Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance to work on the Dvoor Farm Master Plan. Or how Jeff consults with communities throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania about economic development… or how it’s exactly the topic Jeff teaches at both Temple University and Rutgers University. Of course, Erica completely overlooked the fact that Jeff directs the operations of the Flemington Jewish Community Center, which includes overseeing a $600,000 annual operating budget and being instrumental in a $5 million capital campaign.

As you can see, Erica, Jeff knows all about commitment. He also knows how to spell it: there’s only one “t”.

  1. Ruthanng says:

    umm…Commitment clearly has two t’s.

  2. Jeff says:

Yes, just not together. She spelled it committment.
